The Company at Perpetual Motion Dance Studio is designed to educate and prepare dancers to enter the real world both in the dance industry and other fields. The company welcomes dancers from ages 7-18. We focus on each individual dancer’s goals to find the best fit for them. The commitments range depending upon the track the dancer enters and the average age of each group. The auditions are held to evaluate each dancer’s current abilities as well as their potential. At the auditions, dancers who meet the qualifications can be considered for additional opportunities such as small groups and solos. This program is constantly growing and readjusting to benefit the dancers and reflect the current state of the dance industry opening up more opportunities for the dancers. At its core, the company is a supportive family where dancers are challenged, educated, and reaching for their goals all while having fun!

PMDS faculty uses these guidelines to help place dancers in a company that will help each dancer thrive.
PMDS Company 2024-2025
Below is a look at the PMDS Company breakdown. With the intention to make the best experience for the company members each season, this will be slightly adjusted after auditions for the next season.
PRE COMPANY: Ages 6-8, 1.5 hours per week
Invite Only, No Audition. These dances are selected from class to train at the next level and prepare for a more committed future with dance.
PETITE COMPANY: Ages 7-10, about 2 hours per week
Dancers who are looking to train at a competitive level within their age range. These dancers are aspiring to grow into the next companies.
Required Classes: Ballet, Jazz (choreography included)
Optional additional classes are always encouraged.
Competitions attended: 1-2 competitions, 1 two-day convention
MINI: Ages 8-10, about 3-5 hours per week
Dancers who are looking to train at a competitive level within their age range. These dancers are aspiring to grow into the next companies.
Required Classes: Ballet, Jazz (choreography included) + 1 optional class
Optional Classes: Lyrical, Hip Hop, Tap
Production is invitation only (required to have competed for one year prior to joining production).
Competitions attended: 3 competitions, 1 two-day convention
YOUTH: Ages 10-12, about 6-8 hours per week
Dancers who are looking to train at a competitive level and have had 2-3+ years of ballet training.
Required Classes: Ballet, Jazz (choreography included), Progressions, Modern, Production
Optional Classes: Contemporary, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Tap
Competitions attended: 3 competitions, 1 two-day convention required with the option to attend additional conventions
JUNIOR COMPANY: Ages 11-14, about 7-11 hours per week
Dancers who are looking to begin training at a pre-professional level and have had 3+ years of ballet training.
Required Classes: Ballet + Beg/Intermediate Pointe (optional), Jazz (choreography included), Contemporary, Production, Modern, Progressions, Lyrical (invited), Residency (invited & optional)
Optional Classes: Hip Hop, Tap
Competitions attended: 3 competitions, 1 two-day convention required with the option to attend additional conventions
ZENITH: Ages 13+, minimum 9 hours per week, option for additional classes/rehearsals
Dancers who are looking to train at a pre-professional level and have had 5+ years of ballet training. This track is preparing dancers for the next step.
Required Classes: Ballet + Intermediate/Advanced Pointe (optional & YAGP eligible from audition), Residency, Jazz, Contemporary, Modern, Progressions, Production, Lyrical (selected from auditions and optional)
Optional Classes: Hip Hop, Tap
Competitions attended: 3 competitions, 1 two-day convention required with the option to attend additional conventions
ZENITH ELITE: Ages 14+, minimum 13.5 hours per week, option for additional classes/rehearsals
Dancers who are looking to train at a pre-professional level and have had 5+ years of ballet training. This track is preparing dancers for the next step.
Required Classes: Ballet + Advanced Pointe (optional & YAGP eligible from audition), Residency, Jazz, Contemporary, Modern, Progressions, Production, Lyrical (selected from auditions)
To be in Zenith Elite, dancers must take an extra 1.5 hours of ballet and pointe and commit to the select small group Lyrical choreography.
Optional Classes: Hip Hop, Tap
Competitions attended: 3 competitions, 1 two-day convention required with the option to attend additional conventions
PRODUCTION: All members of Youth, Junior, and Zenith Companies are required. Mini Company may be invited. All members of production must have competed for at least one year.
PERFORMANCE TROUPE: Ages 10+ (configured depending on interest), 2 hours per week, additional classes encouraged
Dancers who are interested in a lower commitment while attending competitions
Required Classes: 1 hr Ballet, 1 hr Contemporary Jazz (choreography included).
Optional Classes: Hip Hop, Theatre Jazz, Modern, Lyrical, Musical Theatre, Tap, Additional Ballet
Competitions attended: 2 local competitions
HIP HOP CREW: Multiple groups for ages 7+
Mini HH Crew, Junior HH Crew, and Senior HH Crew are all invited from auditions
Requirements: 1 hour of Hip Hop Class & Choreography, 1 hour Jazz Technique or an additional Hip Hop Class.
Dancers that are a part of the other PMDS Companies will fulfill their extra class hour with their company commitments.
This is separated from the other company structure. Developed for dancers with an interest in Hip Hop. Dancers from other companies are invited to join, but members of this company are not required to follow the other company tracks.
